Obviously this would never happen playing IMPs , but this is BAM (or just assume MP).
Maybe you would prefer to sign off in 2 rather than rebid 2 , but... this is BAM.
Partner very seldom rebids 1NT with a singleton , but you guess this is what he did this time, and he has guessed 2 would not play well. So you probably haven't seen this sequence before , but what do you do now?
Pass? 3? anything else?

BAM does not mean that you should throw all principles of common sense bidding out the window. I bid 3D now as 2NT won't make.

Who is this partner? And will 3 finally end the auction?

Maybe I play too many individual tournaments, but I expect partner to be 1444 with 15-16- HCP, so I pass at BAM.

I think 3 will usually do better than 2NT even if partner is 1444. But if partner seldoms bids 1NT with a singleton, he probably has a 1453 just short of a reverse. 3 will play quite well opposite that.

I'd take 2NT as some kind of game trial playing with myself so I thank mich that he points what 2NT is suposed to mean on his partnership.

Partner could have AKQ10x and 8/9 tricks run smothly home in no trumps, when maybe even 3 fails. So this is a matter of partnership style, playing with awm this would be a clear 3, with myself I'd pass, thinking about bidding 3NT. But with mich's partner who knows.

Opposite me, I'd expect like

Qxx
Axx
AJTx
Kxx

Now 3. Opposite random pard, 3 is a no brainer.
