By bidding 3♣, NorthGIB has completely described his hand. He shouldn't continue bidding after I've placed the contract in game.

It didn't take 5C as a signoff, but a trump quality slam try. It figured you had the rest covered I guess.

He has excellent trump support, and a secondary ♦ fit. You said you could make 5♣ opposite a much worse dummy.

About 90% of the time, if you jump to 5 of a minor, GIB will raise to slam with a non-minimum for its previous bidding. You have to be careful.

I did luck out over the weekend, GIB jumped to slam when we had a 2-loser suit, but opener led the wrong suit and I was able to dispose of one of them. I recall a Classic Rewind article in Bridge World a few years ago that recommended blasting over scientific slam exploration for precisely this reason.
