2C is alerted as Stayman. My X is coincidentally Stayman and is the prelude to making a game invitation in spades. Partner surprises me with 2S and RHO again with 4H. I was going to bid 4S before hearing 4H. Should I now or should I just hit 4H?

I would double. It's hard to know exactly what is going on but we are very likely to get at least 300 if 4♠ is making and it may very well be better than that.

With all this bidding by the opponents, they seem to have a several black singletons and a source of tricks in diamonds. I would bid 4♠.

On defense I'd expect 2H, 3m; could easily be another trick in the wash.
On offense I'd expect to take 2H, 1Hruff, 3m... we could probably work out ruffing finesses to make 4♠, but it's not clear.

4♠ -- known 9 card fit. Yes they are supposed have only 8 trumps, but pard may have bid a slightly off shape NT and they have very well have a double fit..
