Uncontested, 2/1gf. No Bart or any other related gadgets. Assume not strong enough for 2nt rebid.

What's the worst heart suit you'd bid 1-1nt-2-2 with, holding 1-5-4-3 shape?
2542? (if you ever do this with 5 bagger/doubleton spade)
2533? (ditto)

Would you ever bid a 5 bagger heart holding 1-5-3-4?

Hum... I guess I might bid 2 with KQTxx on a 1543 shape. But with 25xx shape I'd rather give preference to 2. No idea whether this is right.

Shape is far more relevant to me than suit quality. I would never bid 2H with 2S5H, while I can't think of anything better to do with x xxxxx Axxxx Ax. If I was 15(43) then I would look as much at the strength of my hand as the strength of my heart suit.

It's a fairly horrible sequence. I really like my pet methods, I think they are miles better than bidding naturally here but I am happier still playing 1NT as NF.

I would bid 2 on 1543 with a decent suit and pref to 2 on the other two.

Bart would be nice on the 25xx ones...

This is a judgement matter, and not always an easy one. Sometimes you have to bid hearts with a 5-card broken suit, others with better hearts you should show preference for one of opener's suits, etc.

Some of the posts above give examples.

2H is certainly closer to "shows six" than "promises six", but I am extremely reluctant to do this with any shape other than 1552.

I don't think I will ever do it with 2 spades or with 1534. 1543 after 1NTForcing is a really tough question. Probably depends on quality of my clubs as well as my hearts. I want to say KQ9xx+; maybe it's right down to say QT9xx+ when my clubs are only xxx. Intermediates do matter, so I don't just want to say "HHxxx".

If I have two spades, even xx, then I don't have a problem, I just rebid 2S. If I have one spade and three clubs then I have a problem and I do the best that I can. With a strong club holding and a weak five card heart holding I don't think it is crazy to pass 2C. Partner is not guaranteed to hold only three. In a 4-3 fit you want to have strong trumps else it's a disaster so with three small clubs you have to get out of there. Therefore, 2H on more or less anything.

I guess I bid 2H. What else?
