After a 2NT rebid

I have had this a couple of times 1♦ 1♠ 2♣ 2NT
now GIB bid 3♠ on a hand with lets says politely less than adequate ♠ support.
Most recently it had a 1444 13 count

I've seen it do it with 3-card support (even though the description says 4S, that obviously can't be right), I'm not so sure I've seen it do it with 1. But I wouldn't be surprised.

What's really annoying is when it goes 1♦ 1♠ 2♣ 3[NT] 4♠. GIB is just unwilling to believe that I have adequate controls opposite its short suit, and pulls me.
