Consider this suit in a NT contract in which you need 4 tricks:
AK87
Q106
Due to problems with entries to dummy (but starting in dummy), your best options seem to be a first round hook of the 10 or to unblock the 10 en route to leading up to the K8.
Suppose you choose the latter line (or someone starts out by playing the first trick and leaves you to clean up) and it goes:
ACE, five, ten, two
seven, nine, QUEEN, three
six, four, ?
Assume the opponents are playing their spots completely randomly, what card do you play if
i) no other information is known
ii) another side suit is known to be 4=2

(i) K.
(ii) K if 4=2, 8 if 2=4.
(ii) K if 4=2, 8 if 2=4.

Agree with Han.
Why did I reject the immediate play to the 10? That's what I would have done unless I knew of the other 2=4.

Oh wait, I didn't read the initial post carefully. We have no entries and played the 10 on the first trick. That means the 9 and jack are equal and restricted choice applies. It also means that I agree with Fluffy, we had this exact same question recently.

I'm pretty sure the OP is a bot that has somehow registered on the forums - see the more recent post at http://www.bridgebas...nalist-wolfson/
