Scoring: IMP

You're playing with an expert partner for the first time in about 8 years.

Playing Acol, your partner opens 1C and raises your 1D response to 2D.

Assume minimal gadgetry to avoid confusion.

In 25 words or less, what is your plan for the hand?

Poor methods Dwayne. Does 2D deny 4S? Does 2D deny a flat hand? You say "Acol", but does this mean a 12-14 NT? What does partner open with a 2245 1345 3145 shape and 12-15, 1C or the more sensible 1D? Too many problematicals Dawyne.

alright Hideous.

Some ground rules.

12-14 NT.

with 4-4 in the minors open 1C.

partner will rebid 2C over an (yes..expected) 1M response.

1NT rebid will not deny a major but opening a minor and raising the other minor will almost certainly deny a major unless 1444 or 4144.

Your turn.

In Acol, if 1444, then pd should open 1D. So opening 1C and raise to 2D should show a 5431 or 5422 hand. Without much discussion, 3N is probably practical choice. However, if pd has sth like:
S: x
H: XXX
D: KQXX
C: AKQXX

you may miss a slam.

I think i will try 2S, if pd can bid 2N, showing stopper in H, then I will raise to 3N. Slam is unlikely if pd has high card in heart suit. If pd retreat to 3C or 3D,denying H card. I will raise to 4D if it is forcing. Otherwise, i will try 6D.

How do I get partner to show his singleton if he has one? I bid 2 now maybe something good will happen, like 3. If not, I bid 3NT next.

25 words or less? You are kidding me? I can't tell you my name in just 25 words or less... :-). But I will try to be short...

1) I have 34 Zar points, maybe 36 after diammonds are raised. (10 distributional, 6 control, 16 hcp, 2 for club honors after partner bids, and 2 for diamond honors after partner raises comes to 36). If partner has his expected 26 ZAR points, 26 + 36 = 62 enough for slam. Even if I deveulate a point or two, I am close to slam opposite even opposite many minimums.

2) Thus I am not jumping to 3NT, or signing off... and I will make at least two slam tries....

So my plan is too:

3) Bid 2S, over
--> 3D, I will bid 3H
--> 2NT, I will bid 3H
--> 3C, I will jump to 4D (minorwood I hope)
--> 3D, I will bid 3H
--> 3NT, I will bid 4D (minorwood)
-->4D, I will bid 6D
-->4C, I will bid 4D (minorwood)
-->3S, sadly I will bid 3NT

Start with 2S and see what happens. Over 3C bid 4D, (I guess demanding cues seeing my methods are simple here - who are you playing with, Andrew Webb or Kieran Dyke if your methods are that simple? :) )

If cho bids 2N or 3D I bid 3H just to confuse him further to see what happens.
