Had it been MP I could almost understand opener having a problem with certain strong hands. 1DX is not game, and 2 doubled overtricks in Diamonds may not be available given the opposing stack, when game might be possible elsewhere. +380 (or even +580) may be a poor score compare with +600.
But the problem is in IMPs, so I cannot see that it is right to go for a speculative game in preference for a certain plus with the likelihood of an overtrick or 2. And if opener is weak there is no rescue that cannot go through XX.
So I will continue to watch this space with interest.
