The way I get around those problems? The bump pair always consists of either another director, a pair of fast players, or experienced bumpers that I can trust. We actually don't have problems with bumping here. And people still smoke? I don't think they do in California.

Until recently, I had a regular partner who would take a smoke break two or three times a session. But if you don't have smokers, I'm sure you can find some other reason for them to be gone for a while.

I'm glad you're fortunate enough to never have problems with a rover. Others may not be so lucky.

I have a set of cards with instructions that I put out on the tables telling them when they are going to be bumped, and I tell them it's their responsibility to ensure they leave the table and return at the appropriate time.
