Pretty common deviation from GiB, thats one thing, but then what's W trying to achieve with 4S. 1400 vs a non-making non-vul game.

Edit: if the definition is taken literally I guess East's double is systemic, but there's still the sac :angry:

GIB's explanation of responsive doubles is always wrong , but its actual hand usually matches what it's supposed to have according to the way most people play responsive doubles. E.g. a responsive double of ♥ usually denies 4 ♠, and GIB had that on this hand, although it should have had another ♣ as well. But East was too strong to just let the opponents play 2♥, so some action was necessary. I'll bet the double would get a high score in MSC.

West's 4♠ is ridiculous, but GIB likes to bid when short in the opponents' suit.
