I think Han's post must be a typo bidding 2♠/2♣
Why would you use 2♣ drury here to show a good hand in support of partners opening but unsure of game? Why give the opps more information and misdescribe (for a 2nd time perhaps) your hand on the way to game?
I don't think he typo'd, he said IF partner bids 2S over 2C, you should pass, not that partner would bid 2S on this actual hand.
Jillybean, do you think 1S p 4S describes the north hand? 1S p 4S shows a distributional hand, not a 4333 12 count. The point is if you have an opening bid you should open, and if you don't have an opening bid and shape then you have a limit raise (aka drury).
If you have a 4333 limit raise with 3 trumps, that is a hand that should respect partners sign off over drury. If partner had some game interest in that hand, they could bid 2D after 2C.
It's fine to re-evaluate your hand to an opening bid because you have a nice fit for partner/shortness somewhere/whatever, but this hand is 4333 and is just punishing partner if it game forces over a 4th seat opener. Partner should open a 5332 10 count in 4th seat (with spades)!
You must bid consistently. Either open the hand, or treat it as a 3 card limit raise over drury. Yes it is a maximum 3 card limit raise but that's fine. What you definitely should not do is bid 1S p 4S which shows a totally different hand type, and forces to game opposite a minimum 4th seat opener, and hurts your slam bidding (it didn't on this hand since your hand was so good, but it could have)>
