without going into a michaels discussion, i just want to know how many people take some action with this hand, and how many pass. and how comfortable they are with their decision, and what are the considerations when deciding whether to bid or not

ok since the entire world seems to be taking action, i shall expand the qn a little

what if your hand is

2) x AJTxx Axx QJxx?

what about

3) xx AJTxx Ax QJxx?

pass, or bid? how clear?

Pass is not an option!
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Very clear non-pass.

(3) is a problem because it doesn't look right for either an overcall or a takeout double. On (1) and (2) it's obvious to bid because you have at least one attractive action.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Not for me. I'd still overcall on #3.

Obvious to bid on 1 and 2 and surprised this is on the table.
