Think of it a different way. You already showed 5 spades and 0 of any other suit. So by my count you have 1 extra spade and 7 extra non-spades. So why not focus on the non-spades with a cuebid to show a flexible hand? I mean I just don't get it, if you cuebid then aren't you thrilled with anything partner does, we have a great hand for everything not just a great hand for spades.

Is weak two of hearts an option for partner to open? If not a solid set of hearts would probably play better in 3NT rather than 4H- he doesn't any other strength. Save 3D for strong hands with ♦xxx
