Congratulations to the EBL and the local Belgian organisers for a truly excellent BBO vugraph from the European Team Championships over the last eleven days.

A rock-solid Internet connection is probably the most important factor, but I thought that the operators were consistently good and a number also contributed effectively to the commentary.

Well done all.

But what now? Currently there is no vugraph scheduled until the end of July! Maybe it's not a bad thing as few events can provide the same quality as the USBC and Europeans.

And then the penny dropped. I can see all the Euro stars again later this month as they compete for double the prize money in the Spingold. That is, no prize money but at least they'll be paid for their time. Just needs Jan to schedule it :)

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades

It's pretty close to the end of July, I'm afraid - the Summer NABC starts July 22nd, but ACBL plans to show the semi-finals and finals of the Grand National Teams the first weekend, as well as the Spingold starting with the Round of 64 on Tuesday - probably one match per day (not necessarily the same one all day long) in the Rounds of 64, 32, & 16. Maybe 2 in the Round of 8 if I can find enough operators, definitely both semi-final matches and the finals. We'll also show the finals of the Wagar, which will most likely be on Thursday, although it depends on the number of teams that enter.

Anyone who isn't on my Vugraph operators email list and will be in New Orleans and interested in being an operator, please send me an email (marteljan at gmail dot com).

"See" you all there.
Jan Martel, who should probably state that she is not speaking on behalf of the USBF, the ACBL, the WBF Systems Committee, or any member of any Systems Committee or Laws Commission.

On a much, much less exalted note there will be the final of the Young Chelsea KO when (if ever!) the two teams manage to agree a date to play it.

I very much agree with Paul's sentiments. They did extremely well in Ostend. However, I am sorry to "disappoint" ;) him and others. We will indeed have live vugraph broadcasts before the end of July.

July 8 and 9: West Java Regional Games in Indonesia (teams).
July 14, 15 and 18: Danish Bridge Festival (teams and open pairs).

Why are those tournaments not listed yet? Well, I allowed myself 24 hours of rest after the European Championships ended yesterday. The past two weeks have been quite hectic as you all know.

With some luck we will have the above mentioned two events up on our vugraph schedule web page later today or tomorrow. It doesn't only depend on me.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice

We thought you'd been cloned to avoid this problem. How else to explain all you're able to do for Vugraph? :)
