I found myself in another light game in Utrecht:

Q10x
KJx
K97x
Qxx

KJxxx
x
AJx
Axxx

RHO opened 1D, I overcalled 1S. Partner bid 2D and I bid 4S.

LHO led a small diamond to the 7, queen and ace. I tried a spade to the queen and RHO won the ace. RHO now switched to the club 10 in a flash. Plan the play.

and the result can be plotted on a graph.

EDIT: OOPS. RHO won the A. Nevermind.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

What if trumps split 4-1, RHO having 4?

What do you discard from dummy on the 4th round of trumps?

Trumps were 3-2.

If you can make it on the assumption that the club was a singleton, can you still make it if RHO has maybe a doubleton club?

Also, the position of the heart queen is not 100% but the position of the heart ace is 100%, right?

Does 5431 with 2 aces and an outside queen open 1? I kind of doubt it, so I kind of thought the Q had to be with east.

If I play the K and RHO exits with a second club, my only thought is that LHO needs to keep his 4th club and RHO needs to keep his 4th diamond, and they both need to guard hearts. Maybe there's a squeeze, but I'm not sure.

Han's point is a minor quibble, it is 0 % that they open an 8 count and probably something non zero that they open a 10 count with 2 aces and a stiff (even if it's one percent), so you might as well play the jack with everything else being equal.

It's important even when weighing 2 very unlikely scenarios to choose the better of the 2...you never know!

You can also make the contract if RHO is 4441. The line is pretty - see if you can work it out.
