x is both minors and a hand with some defensive values. Say 10 points and 5-4. With a 4-card in a minor, partner should bid it. With 3-3 in the minors, partner should scramble with 2NT. With less than 3-3, pass may be best.
2NT is both minors but more distributional, 5-5. Could be weaker.

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

correct had 4-4 in minors with 11 points --my pard with 4 cl j passed.
agree 2n/t is =to 5/5 or 6/5 or 5/6 minors.
opps contract going off, except my pard led heart from jxx and they wrapped up with over trick to boot.
and my pard from memory was intermediate/advanced
