OK, so you pick up:
Scoring: IMP

RHO opens 1, you X, LHO XXs

What does partner show/deny if he passes ?

If it comes round to you, do you bid 1S or 2C ?

If you do one of those is 2D by partner natural, a raise or a good hand ? and would it make any difference if the 1D was minimum of 2,3,4 cards ?

I post this in B/I because I think it's an area that people often don't think about, and even at expert level there can be slight differences of approach.

well if you want to be able to punish psyches then partner's pass says "I want to play 1DXX" colloquially known as "must save" since he has to pick a suit if he doesnt want to play 1DXX

misread originally. I bid 1. partner has two places to play, I show him the lowest contract I can play.

good question with 2; I would think it's natural. If partner has a good hand with no diamonds, he can bid 2 first round.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
