Scoring: MP

Playing "vanilla" 2/1, can you suggest a reasonable auction to slam? Opps will stay out of your hair.

And here you lose me. Maybe 5(6), maybe 4(4NT and later 6), but a normal North would simply bid 4 and it'll be kind of difficult for South to continue.

sorry I don't move from N over 4. at the club it would go

1-1
4-4
6 but not because of UI abuse; 4 would have been Gerber.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Same old story. The splinter has too wide a range. Could be 16-17 high plus the shortness, or could have 21 high plus the shortness.

Jump-shift to 2S, then jump to 4H, would show the huge hand, then North will get excited.

Agree with this--not sure why North would think they are in the slam zone after 4C. Is he really going to imagine there are zero red suit losers?

1d=1h
4c=4h
now with a 3 loser almost 2.5 loser hand south must move again.

with silent opp I would just rkc, risky...but ....plain vanilla.

north can never play me for this hand after 1d start...

the good news is we are vul so north should not have zero.

Why is it almost 2.5? Do you count Kxxx as 1.5 losers? It looks closer to 2.5 to me.

Sometimes you miss a more or less indifferent slam when partner has a max, that's fine.

Slam's hardly cold. It basically needs both red suits 3-2 for a start (you can't pick up 4-1 hearts onside)
