The auction was the same at all 10 tables... The description of West's double is 15+, which I think is pretty standard...

How strong for double of 1NT?

You are glutton for punishment playing with robots. I admit I don't know which is worse BBO humans lottery or robots. How many dollars do you spend on them?

I play one free 8-board duplicate tournament each day, when I can actually click in fast enough to be one of the 10 players who get registered within the first 5 seconds that registration is open.
I'm intrigued that GIB is as good as it is. (I played chess against our IBM mainframe computer in high school in the late 1970s, but this is more interesting.) I stopped playing tournaments about 10 years ago, and this is good practice for me -- FAR better practice than randomness in the MBC.

I don't know how GIB bids except from this forum as I never have used it but would you prefer it was more mechanical and less judgement or as it seems now uses it judgement with wrong descriptions and erratic and sometimes just bad bidding.

My primary hope is that bids should match the descriptions. Like with human partners (and opponents), it's more important that I understand what the bid shows than that I agree with the methodology of the bidder.

I'd say the trouble starts because GIB is allowed judgement and the description is not dynamic its just linked to what GIB bids so if you cut out the judgement then the description would match the bids otherwise no chance.

We can certainly do a better job at making GIB's descriptions more accurate. However, there will always be times when they do not match a given hand. This happens for humans also; from time to time you have a problem where no bid matches your hand perfectly and you have to make the smallest or least costly lie possible.
