we agreed that 1NT with a 5cM is just with a bad major and no gazzilli or anything.

what if it had gone instead

1H-1S-x-2S
p-p-x-p
?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Do you think that your heart suit is as good as many 6-baggers? Does partner usually have at least a bit of tolerance for your suit when he/she makes a neg. double?. Given your total hand, and partner showing minors, do you think you could withstand spade taps in the trump suit given your overall strength? Visualize a typical neg X after 1H-1s-X: what do you think you can ultimately make?
or
since your partner made a bid that supposedly shows both minors or a 2 1/2 heart raise, you could pick a minor and see what partner does. But, the quality of the trump suit, albeit only 5 cards,...........................................

In the first sequence, wouldn't 2S show extras, no 6th heart, no 4-card minor and no spade stopper?

A lot of the time partner will be 3244, 42(43), etc..With a good spade stop and 8-10, I would expect 1N (no comments please B))

If I cue here (see the 3334 18 hand thread) it is game forcing, so thats out.

I'll try 2♣. If partner bids 2♦ or 2♥, I'll then bid 2♠ which I hope is a good description.

If pard passes 2♣, I may have missed 3N, but probably not.

2♠ in the first one, 3♠ in the second one.

I don't know the right answer on the first one, but I guess I would bid 2♠, and will take the blame if we get too high. But I know that on the second one, I would double 2♠ and feel like I've shown my hand pretty well.

The hand fits extremelly well, so overbidding to 2♠ seems in order, even 3♥ looks reasonable with such a suit.

In general with this shape and strenght I think 2♣ is the correct bid following Phil's plan.

About the second bidding, why didn't we double 2♠? I'd try 3♠ anyway.

Indeed, pass would be gwnn-unworthy.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I don't mind either 2♣ or 2♥ (but certainly not 2♠ as it's GF). If partner has 31(54) a 2♣ rebid will encourage him to a 3♣ invite more favourably than a 2♥ rebid will for a 2NT invite. With 3244 then either rebid should be fine. In terms of partscore however I feel hearts would play better than clubs will given our suit quality. Over our 2♣ I don't think it's likely at all that partner will be bidding 2♦ or a preference to 2♥ given that he thinks that we have located a fit, and in addition to that there's a small fear that if LHO competes to 2♠ over our 2♣ we may be stuck for a pass if partner competes with 3♣ and we might find ourselves in a 4-3 fit. Given our system, if it is expected that 2♣ may include these types of problem hands then I obviously bid 2♣.

As for the 2nd auction, I would have doubled 2♠ to show extra values. Having failed to do so I now make the strange looking bid of 3♠.

Even though I know that this isn't a pair of hands that will occur often in real life on this bidding, how would you bid them if they bid just 1S and pass throughout or they bid just 1S and support with 2S and pass throughout? They actually bid 1S and 2S over the double and passed throughout
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

X-2♠
3♣-3♠
4♥

is an option, specially at MPs.

X-2♠
3♦-3♠
4♣-4♦
4♥

also ok

you can substitute 2♠ by double and it doesn't change much.

3H - (p) - 3S - (p)
4D - (p) - 4H - all pass

As pard might be 3-2-4-4, disagree.

2♣ for me as I play it up to this strength, same as if we had a free run with a forcing nt but I wouldn't mind 2♥ at matchpoints if pard bid it. I wouldn't.

After 2♠ double should be extras with no direction, shouldn't it?

Edit: HaHa, the actual hand appeared while I typed this!
