Playing normal methods, your partner overcalls LHO's 1 opener with 1. How do you advance this:

Scoring: IMPS

(1)-1-(P)-?

I'll see if I can get away with 2. If this gets floated, its not a bad spot at IMPs, and if there's any action, i can then support spades.

So I have limit raise and one of the options is limit raise. WTP ?
2 sucks because if I bid then partner will think I am smartly showing Hx spades, 6+clubs and maximum hand.

I like a 3C fitjump (yes, I have the agreement with one reg p that jump advances are fit.)

With 8 losers even after downgrading HK I cant make myself bid only 2S... and in my universe, a 2C bid (nonforcing but constructive) firmly denies support for spades and would be a pretty clear error.

[Edited to add: I seem to have misclicked on the poll. Mentally remove one 2C vote and move it to 3C, please]

:) 2 - Pard bid 1 non-vul vs vul at the one level. This may not even be our hand. The K is not a good card. Let's set the defense and make a constructive move. If pard has cards, he will bid some more.
Imo, 3 as a fit jump is optional assuming I were playing it. Change the K to any other suit, and it would be mandatory

Thanks for the comments so far. At the table I bid 2 (and played 2 when partner showed a min), but thought that with the poorly placed K I should have downgraded. Whether that's to a direct 2 or 2 is less clear, but certainly 2 had some appeal.

I thought 1N would be an interesting choice that also protected the heart position, but apparently noone else thought so.

1N with H-stop! and 6xC tricks(?). Let's see where this goes.

I can understand 2 with spade support and some values, and I can understand 2 with such a fine suit, yet still needing something extra from partner for game. Can't understand 1NT though, it seems like a joke bid, hiding both the spade support and the clubs.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

2. If this ends the auction that is fine with me. If not, and partner shows any signs of life, I will support spades.
