I have it on good authority (that is, from the President of the European Go Federation) that the 2nd World Mind Sports Games will almost certainly take place from the 11th to 25th of August, 2012, in Manchester, England. Just thought I'd share the good news.

BTW I have heard poker want's to make it into IMSA, wich would make them play world mind sport games, that would bring television so probably that would be good.

Works alright for heads up where you've got a team of 2 versus another team of 2. Not sure how it'd work otherwise.

I think "terrible" is an overstatement. English hotels and restaurants are expensive by the standards of most of the rest of the world (but less so at the moment, with the Pound being so low). The venues are usually OK rather than good, but miles better than some world- and European-championship venues I've been to. The cuisine in Manchester is great if you like Indian food, but probably less so otherwise.

The bridge is not an open event and it is run by the WBF. They set the costs and it depends on your national federation how much of that is paid by the players.

It's pretty good for Chinese food too, and it's reasonable overall, all IMHO of course.
