1♦-(p)-1♠-(dbl);
1nt
shows 18-19 according to GIB. Really? I agree it shows 18-19 if partner had passed, but does this?

It's not a silly agreement but probably not standard.

Interesting. Any suggestions for what 1NT should show instead, as opposed to pass?

now that you ask... i dunno, maybe semibalanced 15 - 17. With a weak NT there is a reasonable strategy with pass.

Hard to program this with a robot, wouldn't you need some kind of stopper table, like so he only bids 1NT with certain spade holdings? Kind of like how it decides suit quality for 4 card overcalls.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

We could certainly do this. Can you think of other auctions where the feature would be equally useful?

I don't know exact criteria between p / 1nt, but as long as 1nt shows 12-14 2 spades I think that's what most people are going to expect, even if GIB never bids it, if a human tries to bid it GIB won't overbid opposite.

Whatever it is, it should not be programed to be 15-17 balanced because instead of 1D, GIB would have opened 1NT if it is now prepared to like NT. Or are there balanced hands of 15-17 range that GIB opens 1D? I don't think so, GIB counts points pretty well:) I think the original 18-19 is ok, but I could be persuaded with good arguments or with something I have missed.
