Scoring: MP

Gib held this hand in a Robot Rebate tourney.

I open 1, then:

1-1
4-4NT
5-5
6-6

I've shown 17-19 (or shape equivalent), 3 keycards, Q and K, how much more does it want? (my hand was KQ83 AQ96 A62 KT)

Thanks for the report. A simulation here would easily show 7S to be the best contract. I'm looking in to why GIB did not simulate.

I was in that tourney, too.

It probably wouldn't have made any matchpoint difference, though, everyone in the field has the same GIB partner. None of us found the grand yesterday; if the bug were fixed, we probably all would have. Although I suppose it makes a difference which of us is asking in Blackwood. Your auction told GIB that there are 6 club tricks. I bid Blackwood from my side, so when I asked for Kings it didn't know that I had the K.

But woiuldn't a simulation actually tell it that 7NT is the best contract? The likelihood of this success depends on what supports your K. If it's singleton, it needs Jxx or JT in either opponent; KJ makes it cold; Kx is cold against any 3-2 break; KT adds singleton J as a cold make, and Kxx is cold unless they're 4-0.

The actual lie was Jxxx in West, which it would have been unlikely to pick up in practice. You can't play enough rounds of spades to get an inferential count of the hand, because you need them as transportation after running the 10.

Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
