LOL. It seems like the only times GIB bids grands is when it blasts to them. But when it can simply count 13 top tricks, it can't see it.

Strange. Even if South has no other cards than the ones he's promised there are 13 top tricks on any split.

not true.

The J has not been promised and with AQ tight then a 4=0 split in hearts would make 13 tricks impossible.

In fairness to gib's faults, I know that it doesn't bid grands after keycards and should have just assumed it had an ace and bid the grand myself here. But, if only I didn't have to assume such things in grand slam bidding...

GIB knows that it should be simulating in these types of auctions, but it has difficulty generating hands that are consistent with the auction. It seems like it shouldn't be so difficult to do the deal generation since 17 of partner's 20-21 high card points are known. I'll have to investigate further.
