1D on your left (Acol so this is very likely LHO's longest suit), round to you, you X presumably, even in a mixed pairs. Partner bids 1S. Your turn again. You would like to hog if it's reasonable, but not if it's absurd.

You may not be sexist, but I am when it comes to bridge, so tough.

2D now obv

You are missing the point of mixed pairs. It's not that half of each partnership is weak. It's that you are in a field of mostly irregular partnerships so there is a premium on pressure plays and making them defend.

I guess 2♦ is good.

Gwnn where's my past rant about how doubling and cuebidding has changed so much in a short time? It was in some other thread on what does raising after making a takeout double show.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

1NT rightsiding NT contracts. And I do not feel I'm hogging.

My hand is perfect except for my dubious stopper in diamonds.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Hah! I should revive this thread just to tell Han I disagree on passing a 2H raise with advancer's hand. But since he doesn't read too much forums these days he might miss it and it wouldn't be fun.

Great thread, but different circumstances this time around.

That's because the 2♦ bidders play that 2♠ guarantees 4 but no xtra values for their double. They think 2♠ is weird because we have all these xtras and we are underbidding by calling 2♠ and we are a ♠ short.

Maybe, but the hand is not good enough for a 2D bid imo.

Another problem with raising spades now is that partner might have 44xx and just not quite enough strength to jump or cuebid, so he's planning to follow through with a 2H call on the next round.

well, 20 points on the "add a king" premise for balancer's actions seems like plenty for 2D to me. Strongly suggests 3-card spade support. Forget the hogging on this hand. Give the lady some credit.

To be fair, OP did admit that (consistent with his chosen username!) he is more interested in solitary activities than playing with a partner. I suspect that 2♠ isn't on the menu, perhaps we are supposed to choose between 1NT and 2♥?

 OK, IMO, on that premise, 1N = 10, _P = 9, 2♦ = 8, 2♠ = 6, 2♥ = 2 :P

2s no problem yet/

partner may think I have 16 or so...short d and good spades......but far less than a 2d cue bid.
