First stop, the University in London, a head scarfed Muslim gal asked about her comment that Muslims should use magic carpets instead of airlines, she said OK, take a camel.
Second stop at the U of Ottawa, speech cancelled due to 2,000 rowdy people trying to get into a 400 seat venue.
Next stop Alberta. Sure hope they don't show up to actually listen.

You don't mention the most controversial aspect of the visit: the threat by the Canadian government to prosecute her using hate speach laws....

What is the problem with Ann Coulter? I mean where else can you get the Fox News Channel all rolled up into one person? I doubt she ever met a Democrat she didn't hate.

I'm very much in agreement with Glenn Greenwald's blog post on this topic, so 'm going to be lazy and point you at the following:

Aw c'mon. That "threat" was from a two-bit admin guy at the U of O who suggested she acquaint herself with Canadian laws. As far as I know he is not elected, just excersizing his free speech rights.
BTW, a Canadian Government prosecution would indeed be a treat. We might make the Daily Show.

That's why it's when you google "Playboy" and the second suggestion is "Ann Coulter" that I fear for you.

I agree with GGWhiz. That article was a little overblown. Heck, half of it didn't even apply to the Coulter case - different law, different criteria, different decision.
I would prefer a US-style free speech law, but I don't think the Canadian situation is overly onerous. The only case I can recall when the hate speech laws were successfully invoked were for Ernst Zundel, and I don't miss him at all.
That said, I think UofO embarrassed itself mightily on this one. Someone should have gone the extra mile to make sure Coulter would get her chance to speak.

PS - if next time I google Playboy jdonn and WinstonM are my first 2 matches, I'm going to hate you all forever.

Yeah, what he said. So, if someone from CSU Sacramento casually mentioned to a Nigerian dictator that, unlike in Texas, armed bodyguards aren't allowed in public buildings, and he should check the laws before coming on campus and doing what he normally would, just in case there was a problem, that would be a U.S. (or California) government threat?
Frankly, if I was known for doing or saying things that might get me arrested somewhere I was going, and somebody mentioned (even in a "look, your kind of people aren't welcome around here" tone) that this is an issue, you might want to check, I'd (get my staff to) check, rather than play the "Look. Colonials!" card.
Having said *that*, there was going to be no problems in Calgary/Texas North.
I'm not suggesting anything about the hate speech laws we have up here, one way or the other; I have my reservations about them, but they do tend to promote the peace, order and good government that is our country's "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". But Laws are Laws, stupid or not, and following them is good for your health (trust me, I just came back from Reno).
