I want to start a website for a small bridge club that has just begun in my town. Is there anyone on the forums who is experienced in putting together small websites? I would like something that looks professional that doesn't use a total off the shelf web template. Ideally the site would be just a handful of pages: front, games, results, teaching, directions.
If your interested feel free to post here or pm me. Let me know what additional information you'd need to give me an estimate of the cost.
If anyone would like to post links to bridge club websites you think are really good, I'd love to check those out as well.

My small local club uses the BridgeWebs service. It has proved cheaper, more reliable and easier to maintain than our own web site.
It is integrated with ScoreBridge and has ACBLscore running in beta.

Considering that I don't have much time to work on it, I'm pretty pleased with my club's site that I do. It costs me about $6 per month for hosting through Yahoo, and that includes the unique domain name. I got that deal from being grandfathered into a plan that no longer exists but I think you can get the same for under $10 per month. Also, you can get free web sites but there are three main problems with that 1) You can't get a unique URL (but you can get one seperately and then redirect it to your free site 2) Your site will have ads on it that you don't control 3) Your capacity for files will be very limited.
Anyway, if you want some help I'd be happy to share anything I've done. Just use the contact us link on my site, it sends an e-mail to me.

I agree with Cardsharp's comments. We use Bridgewebs and it is not expensive and the owner is very responsive to suggsetions for improvement.

Bridgewebs looks like it is a comprehensive solution, but I don't find their layout particularly attractive. Their calendar and card diagrams are a bit on the ugly side.
They do appear to be service oriented and their prices reasonable.

I'm not particularly fond of the bridgewebs design, either, but several of the clubs in the Boston area have started using them. It's better than the DIY sites they had before.

We just use Google Sites. Free, attractive, and easy enough that anyone can post to it.
