Tank 3 is natural.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

No: Picking the 2 card in the bidding box and then saying 'oops!' and then bringing the 3 card IS natural.

Anyway, 3 though this could get awkward when he bids 3NT (or 3).

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

How are you going to determine this based on partner's response to 3D? As far as I can tell, with 4315, 4216, 3217, etc. he can bid either 3H or 3N depending on his hand.

What's wrong with 2n if you want to find out more from partner?

I think I would just bid 3n though.

you are right roger, it will be hard to suggest hearts to partner later, maybe 3 is not so bright.

Still it focuses on out most likelly fit, so not a bad idea.

If you bid 2NT partner bids 3D.

Black 2-suiter for partner. I can say 3 D D-values useful/not, then 3N =H-stop.

In that case I bid 2NT, and now I bid 4. My plan is to bid RKCB on the next round. (4NT directly over 3 would be quantitative.)

I bid 3, if he bids 3NT I then bid 4. You can't even say 3 is needed as artificial here since you could always preference back to 3 on a doubleton if needed (ok you could be 3451 with no heart stopper, but...)
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

3 as FSF isn't essential, but it's helpful to be able to distinguish between Kxx xxx KJxxx xx and Kxx xxx Jxxxx Kx.
