3, what's the alternative? 3NT is a pretty awful alternative I would say. Just one stopper, can't hold up, main suit far from being set up, void...
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

4D would be a good value bid but "everyone" plays leaping michaels now. I'd probably just bid 5D, this hand seems way too strong of a player for 3D, but obv it's tough to evaluate since opposite a stiff D our hand is much worse.

Not playing ELC it's an easy 3 (5 is putting the eggs all in one basket, something that can go very wrong over a preempt).

Playing ELC I might just trot out a double and hope for the best :D After all, with a bit of luck it will only take pard to have Qxxx to make game and he's likely to bid hearts before spades with a 44.

3 diamonds. My guess is this will not end the auction.

3 would be my choice among what are all bad alternatives.

Why? RHO preempted our Kx, LHO is not going to bid with a weak hand and spades, and neither is partner. Seems like there is a significant chance of this ending the auction.

It very well could. I'm looking at 11 missing black cards, though, and maybe 17 missing HCP (give or take). 3 diamonds might end the auction if we don't have a diamond fit, in which case I'll be in the right spot, or if partner doesn't have much in the way of HCP, in which case righty might be tempted to act.

Anyway, my guess might turn out wrong, but my feeling is that 3 diamonds will not end a lot of these auctions and if it does then we're likely to be in a decent spot.
