1S, better than a minimum 1S opening because all points are in the long suits, there is a void, there are no dubious/wasted queens/jacks, it is 6-5, the suits have high spots, the list goes on for more.

I can bet that if you give this hand to a group of b/i most of them will bid 2s.

that is also very true, people sometimes just count points, that's ok for beginners, but intermediates have to start to take a look at trick potential as well.

On a large field I saw half the players open 1NT with:

♠Ax
♥Ax
♦AKQxxx
♣xxx

and a couple of them had represented my country internationally O_o. I wish I could point them to this thread so they can learn a bit.

You're on. I can bet that in a random sample of BIL members less than 75% will bid 2S. Does that sound OK?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

yes still shows what I was saying.
Second If you refer to the BIL club I may agree that they should know it.
Anyhow I should have say "IMO" instead of "I can bet" in the end it doesn't matter.

what shows what you were saying? :) I don't follow. do you think "most" = "75% or more" is unfair?

you said less than 75% will bid 2s so in that category will fit all from 0 to to 74% or beter say only 25% will not bid 2s.
I wanted to point out that I got the feeling that some advance -expert play think what is clear -cut for them it should be the same for b/i. Your first post looks like you got bugged by the poster question. That's why I said is not clear cut 1s or 2s for most of the b/i players. I hope I'm wrong.
I recognize that I always post those "clear-cut" problems because I'm not advance-expert and it is what I was thinking at table could be a problem. After I read the replies I realize or remember and I regret that I posted. Sorry for that.

No reason to get excited. It is still B/I Lounge where many people read for which not all is "clear" , "obvious" etc.

Thanks for the replies.

Well all I was contesting was your simple statement "most BI people would open 2S". I did not say most BI would open 1S. I completely agree that it is not a clear cut hand for B/I. I am sorry if I am being argumentative here. ;)

I don't?! I will take a 1K bet right now that at least half of B/I players would open this 1S. I will poll the BCD swiss at nationals if I have to.

eh that bet I wouldnt take. 25-100 was a great range for me, 0-49 is not so hot.
