How much space for him to not overcall 1S and then you have a decent contract?

Let's forget about HCP!!
Well, assume opponent have 5-3 fit. Unless partner has 4 hearts without any 4 card minors, we will usually takeout to an 8 card fit somewhere. The total tricks are 16. We will quite ofter turn 2♠= into 3?-1 (-90 -> -100)
or 2♠-1 into 3?= (+50 -> +110)
.
If they have a 9 card fit and we also found 8 (Total Tricks are 17), we may even turn 2♠= into 3?= too! (We might find 4-3 heart here, but TT is still 16)
So instead of letting partner hesitating, i will double right here!
Hope this is convincing at least 50% of the time!
Take-out =/= other major, that's my partner's rule!
Even if you happen to play 4-3 ♥ , unless partner's 4-4-2-3, you will always have an 8 card side suit fit, increasing the total tricks actually avaliable.
(The side suit can be established only in our own contract!)
