Better Off Ted is about the best quirky comedy ever, I like it better than Arrested Development. It hasn't been officially cancelled yet, but I'm not sure how likely it is to come back next season (most of the stars have been cast provisionally in other shows).
But my favorite sitcom is The Big Bang Theory. Last night was a very good episode. I thought Raj's sound effects were lame at first, but they got better and by the end his role reminded me of Harpo Marx.

I believe you.
Friend of mine collected all seven or so seasons of Buffy and all five of Angel on DVD. One of these days I'm gonna have to watch 'em again.
The last episode of both series was epic.

TED:
Oh no!
And there's four (characters) of them that would screw the TV pooch badly if lost.
Ted
Veronica
Phil
Lem
The dip sorta-bimbo I could do without.
BTW, you prolly know Portia was nude in a movie?
DEXTER:
Is that Dexter's wife? No big loss. Well, maybe if they had mde a practice of stripping her down to sexy lingerie.
Too bad Dexter had to kill off that gorgeous psycho from a couple seasons ago.

Yes, as far as spin-offs being better than the original show, Angel was a great example.
David Boreanaz has parlayed that role into Booth on Bones and is doing a fine job there as well.

I have 10 episodes left of the last season of buffy, and angel is almost done downloading as we speak. Had I known it was gonna be epic I woulda watched the episodes as they aired so I could get the crossovers, but w/e.
For people who have never watched it, here's a run down...
Buffy season 1 is a little slow but it's entertaining, seasons 2 and 3 are "classic" buffy, a little bit silly but 2 of the best seasons of TV ever (I would rank season 2 as the best). Buffy and her friends just trying to find their way, and a great love story. The dialogue is perfect, and the story archs are really really good.
After that the story archs become worse and the end villains less cool, but the character development is amazing. You really watch them grow up and mature, and the content becomes a lot deeper and darker. Magic is introduced for instance, and other dark forces. It goes away from it's vintage formula, but it's like seeing your own children kind of grow up. It's just brilliantly done.
I'm not done with season 7, but season 6 was incredibly chilling to me. At that point it was more about the characters and what they go through, and less about the villains. Don't want to spoiler people, but youre in for a treat if you haven't watched it yet. I hope they end it well, glad blackshoe said the last episode was amazing.

I agree that The Wire is the number 1 show ever. I agree that Buffy was epic. I didn't believe people at first, but I started watching around season 3 and went back and caught up. I'm not sure Buffy would be number 2 all time, but it is pretty high up there.
I'd say:
The Wire
Battlestar Galactica
Veronica Mars
Rome
Firefly
are probably my top 5 in order.
But you'd have lots of other contenders including Buffy, Dead Like Me, Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Next Generation, Deadwood, Gilmore Girls, Angel, Babylon 5, Psych, Better Off Ted, early Scrubs, Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, Sopranos, Weeds, etc.

Some old guy came back to visit the guys, and asked Buffy what had she been doing this time.
Don't remember the exact sentence, but it sound to me as something like:
She said: I should had killed Spike and that, but instead I opened a "kind of gate to inferno or such", we had to close it, then I got fooled into saving satan, then I instead of kill spike had sex with him, and some other misschiefs.
If you say that the plot has any sense, well I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but that thing I saw seemed like a lot of teenage rubish.

The only question is, why can't I force myself to like Dollhouse, given how much I like Joss Wheadon's shows? That show is way too deep for me.

Dollhouse started off slow, but the second season got super interesting IMO. Especially with the future flash as background mixed with the character development of the dolls and employees. But yeah Joss is great.
I can't believe I forgot about Sorkin though in my honorable mentions. Studio 60 was only ok but Sportsnight was classic and West Wing was pretty strong for a number of seasons.
