Your plan is (assuming partner bids 1M and silent opps):
A. 1C followed by 2C
B. 1C followed by 3C
C. 1D followed by 2C
D. 1C followed by 2D
E. Some other plan

That's not to say I am particularly happy about it. But opening 1NT is too rich for my blood.

I can really understand opening up 1nt if your style is to open up alot of offshape 14-16 no trump deals.
If I cant open 1nt these 14-16 hcp hands are a real headache for me.

1C followed by 2C.
If you play, that you open hands with 5 clubs and 4 diamonds
with 1D, than you may want to treat the club suit as a 5 carder,
I would say, this would be reasonable, but be sure, that p knowes,
that you open 1D with 5 clubs and 4 diamonds.
Playing with a pickup p, the needed assumption is clearly not fullfilled.
Anything else is just ...
With kind regards

I think you are misevaluating this hand. Or you are playing very light reverses.

Off on a tangent here, but this word 'correspondingly' makes no sense to me. Having a light opening style by no means implies that you need full values to respond. Indeed, playing a conservative style by responder can undo a lot of the benefits you have gained by getting into the auction early.
FWIW I don't hate the reverse on the actual hand here (and if the honors were in our long suits I would prefer it).

Off topic: It's a good songtitle.
Something like the line: "that seems to be a lie to me, and I don't believe it" must also be in that song.
