Scoring: IMP

in this hand from a GIB IMP tournament defending against 5♦ W plays K♠ then switch to A♦ and E plays the K♦!!!
after this, on the remaining diamonds played by S, E discarded two ♥, permitting to S to realize his 5♦!!!

in the hand record this is the file 6359954.lin of today, feb 15 2010

(there is a way to insert the file directly in the post? thanks)

All I can think of is that it was trying to avoid being enplayed, and playing for west to have ♦Q or ♣Kxx.

GIB doesn't understand that just setting the contract is good enough at IMPs. It must have dealt out enough hands where the contract goes down 2 as long as it avoids the endplay.

The ♥ pitches were because it was squeezed in the round suits.
