There have been times before my opponents opened the bidding and responded with less than 12 and 6. OMG!!!
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Your GIB opponents?
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I could not find a way of checking the meaning of my bid opposite a GIB partner until after I had made it, but maybe there is a way.

Hold your mouse over the bid, but don't click on it, and the meaning will pop up in a second or so.

Let's try to go step by step :

Do you agree about such additional unusual auctions?
The Unusual 2NT can also be used after both opponents have bid, as in these situations:
1H Pass 1S< 2NT>

FYI, GIB plays Sandwich NT, so you can show the other two suits here by bidding 1NT, you don't have to jump to 2NT (but you can if you want to be more preemptive).

Point being it still remains a preemptive 2-suiter if you jump, not strong bal.

Are you referring to the Windows interface, or the Web interface, or both?

I tried your suggestion in the Windows interface and no matter how long I hovered the mouse over the bid prior to clicking no explanation popped up.

I tried your suggestion in the Web interface but I could not even figure out how to create a teaching table with Gib sitting only in the North seat. I expect I am missing something obvious.

Windows.

GIB bids different in same hands.

It works the way I described in the web interface. I haven't used the Windows interface in years, so I don't know if you can do it there. Since BBO isn't making any enhancements to the Windows interface, it's not likely to be added.

Here is a past thread that talks about balancing NT's.

OK thanks - I have now worked out how to get it to behave for me in the web interface. Sadly HK tells us that (s)he was using the windows client.

BTW, accidentally I notices that GIB describes a balancing 2N in this sequence

P....1♠...P.....P
2N

As showing a balanced hand with ♠ guard, 11- points, 12 total points, 8+ relay points.

I have no idea what it should mean, and the coin will land on its proverbial edge before I make such a bid. It just surprised me that GIB had a definition for the bid, ridiculous though that definition is. Is there some algorithm that ensures that every sequence has a definition?

It doesn't have definitions for everything. Sometimes I'll hover over a bid and it will pop up an empty description. This is usually at high levels, like strange 4NT bids that most humans would recognize as showing two-suiters.
