You can't bid Diam as that shows support for Cl.
4D! = splinter, showing 4+ card support for Cl.

Bid 2S ... next bid some level of Hts, if partner doesn't support Sp.

I'd bid hearts, I have more of them than spades

Double shows the majors, doesn't it?

I always laugh at the negative and responsive doublers who have eleven to 13 cards in their two suits. It never seems to work out for them.

2S. I agree that double is poor.

2♥ and anything else is terrible. You have a game forcing hand so you bid your longest suit.

2♥, rebidding 3♠ over 2NT or 3♣, then bidding 5♣ over 4M or 4♣ over 3NT.

Partner should take this as 6-5 in the majors as with 5-4 you can just double first.

the funny thing about the 5-6 majors is having to bid the spades at the 4/5 level.

Expecting to get tapped I could hide spades forever on this deal, but I don't like it so much, it seems so antinatural for me, and I0d just bid 2♠

I don't mind having to bid spades at the four level, or five level for that matter. Partner made a vulnerable overcall, RED vs WHITE; how crap a hand can partner have? At this vulnerability slam is soooo extremely likely.

I'd sooner bid 2♥ and then have to bid 5NT over 5♦ pick a slam, or 4NT over 4♦ 'two places to play' than start misdescribing this hand's potential with 2♠. I think 2♠ is just lol. Partner is so likely to have KQ to 6 clubs; give partner the A of spades and either a heart control or singleton and slam rolls. Or alternatively something like A Kx xxxx Kxxxxx. Lots of hands where bidding 2♥ first will help us find the right strain.

True modern method (and probably very good for MPs) is probably to play it as NF; but it is 'standard' for new suits to be forcing on BBO...

I'm surprised by the suggestions that 2♥ is forcing or invitational. Don't you want to be able to compete with 2♥ on Kxx QJ9xxx xx Jx or Qxx KQJxx xxx xx?

For me, 2♥ is just competitive. To make a forcing bid, I'd have to double and then bid a new suit, or double and then cue-bid.

If I bid a non-forcing 2♥, I might play there with a slam on our way (Ax Kx Jxx K109xxx, for example). With so much high-card strength, I can't rely on the opponents to give me another chance.

If a natural forcing 3♥ were available, I'd bid that. I always play that as a fit jump, however, so I'm stuck with a jump to game or a double.

I'd double. The main downsides are that it might get passed out, and LHO might bounce to the five level. I'll take a chance on either of those. If it comes back to me at 5♦, I'll bid 5♥.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

NF is standard imo, I'd bid 2H anyway. I would be very surprised if the opponents don't compete.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.
