I take this is a problem to solve. My guess would be:
As the lead of the 7♣ could have several meanings, I would play the A♣. Next playing the 7♠ to the A. Return to dummy with a low ♦. Play the Q♠ and dump the other ♣ from my hand (loser on a loser).
If they play back a ♠ win in dummy, dumping a low ♦ from my hand. Draw a round of trumps playing east for the king. If both follow, play a second round.
If they play back a ♥ play east for holding the king.
If they play back a ♦ win in dummy, and play the 9♥ (trying to capture the king in east's hand). If required to repeat the process, play the Q.
If they play back a ♣ play low in dummy and trump. Use the ♦ entry to then take the required ♥ finessess.
If still in dummy after two rounds of trumps, play a ♠ dumping a ♦. Play another ♠ dumping another ♦.
Finish drawing trumps and finish with the A♦.
I realise for this to work, I need:
- a 2/3 split in trumps, east with the king.
- the person with the 3 trumps to have at least 4 spades.
- and at worst a 2/4 split in diamonds.
Not sure if there is anything I've overlooked.
I think u might cash a second round of
♦ before playing
♠Q
so that opponent least likely to return a
♦
