Forcing to game after I showed a minimum

I opened in 3rd seat with a quacky 12 count, and then passed GIB's 1♥ response. When the opps reopened, GIB started bidding new suits, to show its 4441 11-count. I kept returning to ♥, and it forced us all the way up to 4♥. With best play it goes down 1, but it went down 2. The recap shows this auction repeated numerous times.

Other people got to the non-making 4♥ by a simpler route, 1♣-1♥-2♥-4♥. Someone needs to remind GIB that shortness in opener's suit should be downgraded, so this should just be an invitational hand. Maybe in my auction it had reason to believe that I wouldn't have wasted values in the suit, because West reopened in my suit.
