Well, let's see now.
If we're talking the same pair, 1.
If we're talking one pair or the other, then we're talking 17.
Much as if I loan N-S 9 dollars, but they give me back 1, I am out $8 - while if I loan N-S 9 dollars and then have to loan E-W 8, I am out $17.
Unless, of course, you are stupid enough to think that one side taking either 8 or 9 tricks and one side taking 8 while the OTHER takes 9 can both be said to constitute the same thing - a '1-trick difference'.
But considering some of the folks here, mathematics can hardly be said to be their strong suit.
hm what does this mean? google translate doesn't have Formiani.
"google translate doesn't have Formiani. "
Apparently gwnn's bridge ability is on a par with their ability to render 8 letter words right in front of their face correctly without turning them into 9 letter words.
We call that a swing of 1 letter.

You know, other than changing the original hand in a thread after finding out your argument about it was wrong, stealing hands from books, using multiple handles on bbo forums. Keep it to bridge playing accomplishments please. Thank you.

jdonn:
Perhaps you missed the title of this Form.
"Interesting Bridge Hands".
I'd be happy to explain the meanings of those words - since apparently multi-syllabic words give you trouble.
And I don't recall seeing your dudgeon displayed on any of the other 100 or so threads regarding hands from books/magazines/puzzle sources.
So - perhaps you should concentrate more of your time on improving your limited bridge skills and less on acting like a prepubescent grade school student?
I know it will be a challenge - but then, most here seen able to rise to the occasion.

Side question. What did your last post have to do with interesting bridge hands?

If you take 9 tricks in 3NT, your opps will take 4 tricks, right?
If I take 8 tricks (because my bridge playing ability is inferior), my opps take 5.
so the swing is 14 because from you taking 9 tricks it went to my opps taking 5 tricks?
but what if your opps said "well we took 4 but gwnn took 8", does that make it 12 tricks?
please answer this because I don't understand. by all means insult me but could you do it in a different paragraph than the insults?

Ya got me.
Perhaps one of the 300+ people who examined the problem might answer that one. Nigel? You here?
But then, he and most of the others probably tried to answer the question - something that required thought and effort - two things you apparently have a minimal supply of, seeing as how rarely they appear here.
But you definitely have that 'Second-Rate Bridge Player Certainty" thing down pat. If only you spent half as much time actually engaged in bridge study.

Once we get past that you can show me who these many others that tried to answer the question other than Nigel are. Because my poor prepubescent eyes can't find a single one!

If only you could see the actual reason why.
Maybe I'm approaching this from the wrong angle since you continue to ignore my request. I need to make an accusation that would force you to reveal your bridge abilities in order to defend yourself.
You stink at bridge.
Go!

I object. This thread is not over. It just needs some more cats.
