1♦-1♥
3♦-4♦*
5♣**-blahblahblah
*forcing, 4♣ would be CoG
**exclusion

Hi,
1D (1) - 1H
2D (2) - 3NT (3)
4D (4) - 5C (5)
5D (6) - Pass (7)
(1) SAYC style
(2) the suit is not good, it is a 7 carder, but ..., AKQ is also not
brilliant, ok it is since it is in p suit, but I dont think I would bid 3D
(3) due to a lack of alternatives, 3D being NF, and I have a bal. hand
(4) ... or Pass, 3NT should show at least 2 diamonds, so we have a
9 card fit, but Pass is an real option
(5) First round control, denies first / second round control in the majors
should also show some life, but not necessarilly AK in diamonds
(6) The Ace of spades is missing, p will have a top honor in diamonds, but
both? And the club values are pure wastage
(7) one did everything one could
With kind regards
Marlowe

If north rebids 3D south will drive to slam. If north rebids 2D it will be tough.
With such potential for diamonds I think it is a good to rebid 3D.

and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I would rebid only 2♦ as N; not really against 3♦, but if p. can bid again, I'll be way better placed. My plan is to show ♥ support after anything prd. bids, including 3nt. This has to show a distributional hand with extra values.
Prd, looking at his prime values, may well be driving for ♦ slam via some Q-bidding starting with 5♣.

I hate to be the guy that justifies a bid this way, but it's a 4 loser hand. Don't losing-trick-count-gurus site a 7 loser hand as a minimum opening bid? I just don't see rebidding 2♦.
Btw if I did rebid 2♦ and partner bid 3NT I would bid 4♥ as north. I still wouldn't see myself finding slam though.

Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

rebidding 2D would be absurd

This might be a touch cooked, but...
1♦ (2+, big club style) - 1♥
3♦ (good max, 7 card suit or great 6) - 3♠ (forcing, stopper ask/diamond slam try)
3NT - 6NT (partner bid 3♦ missing the AK of diamonds and clubs?! He's gotta have controls in both majors and likely one ace, I can't construct a hand that would rebid 3♦ where 6♦/6NT won't have a chance)
Maybe try 4♦ after 3NT instead, then exclusion etc...
I'm also unsure whether I'd open that a big club or not, but I can describe my hand by rebidding 3♦ so I'm content with that.
My standard auction is the same as Helene's.

I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Hi,
the reason I prefer 2D over 3D is actually, that I dont want p
to bid 3NT with an more or less arbitary 8 count.
I think a 3D bid will lead to a lot of hopeless games, but the hand
is certainly a max. for 2D, maybe super max.
It would be a slightly different story, if the 3D rebid would show
6 diamonds and 3 hearts, if this agreement would been in place,
I would rebid 3D instead of 2D.
With kind regards
Marlowe

I am counting 2.5 * 2.5 for a total of 5, I am normall the guy who counts the les losers
The hand is very rare, I might land in slam but not for the right reasons.
