Hello friends,
I am sure this subject was discussed several times in the forum. I need to start it again.. I use Pardus,Turkish version of Linux. I can not use BBO software with wine, because it doesnt work properly. I set up the program by using wine then I started BBO. I can see lobby but it freezes a few seconds later. Also it is not possible to close the program.
I downloaded last version of BBO and wine, it is same.
I know flash can run on Linux and Mac, but I dont like it, I love BBO software..
Can anyone help me? Thanks

Suggestion - add "BBO on Linux" with instructions to Pinned list? I'd be willing to write (/consolidate from threads) the topic.

I read all linux related posts and not find any solution for me. I love to use web/flash version of BBO, but i cannot see suite icons when bidding. I read workaround for downloadable client and symbol.ttf, but nothing for web. I see them when i bidding in bottom right, but not in general table in the center of the screen.
Debian Lenny 5.0
Firefox 3.6
Flash plugin 10.0.42.34
Edit: On Debian Squeeze(Testing) is working fine.

If your system language is set to something that uses a non-Western character set, you might not see suit symbols in some places unless you have a version of the Arial font installed that contains suit symbols.
In the world of Windows such a font is known as a "Unicode Arial font" and typically comes preinstalled on Windows machines. If you can't find something similar for Linux, another alternative is to use this link to access our home page:
www.bridgebase.com?lang=en
Then, when you click the yellow "play bridge now" link, everything in the client will appear in English and I suspect this problem will go away in most place (though you still may not be able to see suit symbols in some areas - chat for example).
It sounds like your English is excellent so, if you can't find the necessary font, hopefully this will be an acceptable solution.

I second that (although with a slight amendment - Linux/Unix/MacOSX instead of just Linux). Seems like I have to go back and look for help with running BBO on the Mac from time to time.
Jan Martel, who should probably state that she is not speaking on behalf of the USBF, the ACBL, the WBF Systems Committee, or any member of any Systems Committee or Laws Commission.
