what we play is that 3♦-3♥ are 5-5, but 1♠-3♣ can be 5-4

2NT then is GF, and 3♣ asks for a 4 card suit if there is any, after 1♥-1NT-2NT-3♣, 3♠ shows 4 clubs.


Bidding 3NT with 19 balanced and missing all the 3 level to look for the best strain is really horrible

The "constructive" criticisms have not gone unnoticed.

A Responder hands like    x  KQJT9x   xx  xxxx or
x    xxx   xxx    K Q J T 9 x   are worthy of concern for the final contract. ( eg. 3NT may well not be a good idea ... duh ).

I'm now considering a revision in my RKC accept for the minor by
removing the "bottom rung" of the RKC reply-- namely 3H! here.
3H! would now show either a) long ♥ suit or b ) long ♣ suit ( the other minor ).
[ I won't go into followups now ].

There are still enough "rungs" available for the RKC accept.
Initially, I had been concerned about not enough "room" for follow-up trump Q-ask ( 1st non-sign-off step ) or specific K-ask ( 2nd step ), but I think there is enough room ( BELOW 5-of-trump )... at least there was with examples in my files.

For example here:
RKC "showing" replies for minor suit acceptance become:

4C! = 0 or 3
4D! = 1 ( or 4 impossible )
4H! = 2 - ♦Q
4NT! = 2 + ♦Q

3D - 4NT! ( 2 + ♦Q )
