BBO client and 64-bit Kubuntu

Has anyone out there managed to get a stable setup using the downloadable client under WINE on 64-bit Kubuntu Karmic (aka v9.10)? I've tried WINEs 1.0.1 and 1.1.36, both pre-built packages and compiling my own, and I can't get past more than a (very) few hands without a 'NetBridgeVu needs to close' message, or more often just an outright crash.
Yes, I know about the Flash client, thanks.
If I have to, I'll try QEMU and a copy of Windows in preference to that.

Things to try
1. disable sound
2. edit c:\bridge base online\bbover.ini and set
LINUX_WINE=Y
BROWSER_TYPE=E
1. disable sound
2. edit c:\bridge base online\bbover.ini and set
LINUX_WINE=Y
BROWSER_TYPE=E

Thanks, Uday. I always have sound switched off anyway, but I think my browser type is set to C rather than E in the .ini file. I'll change it and see whether that makes a difference.

Debian Sid 64-bit on this PC.
Wine 1.1.32, BROWSE_TYPE=E works, =C and Wine crashes when trying to install Gecko.
Try VirtualBox instead of QEMU (which is impressive) :-)

Thanks Gerardo. Yes, Uday is 99% of the way there, switching that BROWSER_TYPE from C to E seems to have done the trick. The only (non-)problem now is that bidedit.exe encounters an error when I log out of BBO, but that's just a feature.
I'll take a look at VirtualBox, but now that BBO appears to work reliably, I really don't have anything to run in it.
Thanks again, Uday.

E says something like "use an external browser"
So anything browser that might have been embedded into the app ( say: lobby news ) is presented via an external browser.
