I sat South and our bidding went (playing SAYC) :
1S - (pass) - 1N - 2H
2S - all pass
1N = 6-10, NF
4 was cold. Should I bid more with my hand? Given pard responds 1N on a singleton spade too, I felt 3S was not an option, but maybe I am wrong. I thought that maybe pard was worth another bid, being around the top end of his 1N bid.

IMO you made the correct choice but I would not be too hard on your partner who had to contend with your possible holding of
