Scoring: MP

uninterrupted auction

1♠- 2♠ - 3♦* - 3♥** - 3♠***- 4♠****

* 3+D, 17-22 total points
** alerted as 3+H,3+S, 2-11 8421 pts in H, 7 total points
*** attempted signoff (17 "total points")
****oh well...down two

I was a bit confused with this one....
a) does the 2-11 pts mean 2 for the doubleton, not just AKQJ points?
:) any idea why the signoff would be rejected?

8421 points are points that are computed as follows:
Ace=8
King=4
Queen=2
Jack=1

These are similar to "controls", i.e. Ace=2, King=1, which is popular in response schemes to strong artificial openings, but 8421 points give a little credit to queens and jacks as well.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

GIB was attempting to make a counter-game try. GIB judged that 3H was slightly more encouraging than 3S. After you bid 3S, GIB did a few more simulations and decided that 4S was still odds-on to make.
