In brief:
New computer running Windows7
Installed bbo software.
Had trouble.
Reinstalled
Trouble fixed.
Trouble returned.
I think the trouble originates from opening the little news box that comes up when I bring up bbo. As long as i ignored it, there was no problem. But if I read the messages, a problem comes up and stays with me subsequently even if, at a later time, I don't open the messages.
I get white screens, both the news box and the bbo screen. The hourglass comes and stays. I get a message that NetBridgeView.exe is not responding. I close it. Bbo shuts down.
So: I cannot get into bbo. I fixed this before ny uninstalling anf then re-installing, probably this will work again until the first time I try to open something from the news box. Any thoughts?
I realize that I don't really need software, I can go direct, but I prefer the interface that comes with the software.

What is your default web browser?
Have you tried logging in to Windows 7 as an "administrator"? If no, please try this.

The default browser is firefox. This issue also seemed to come up erlier. When I would read the news bulletins the pc would ask me if I wanted to open in IE, I would say no, and then it would open. But after a while it stopped working. Odd.
I will see if I can figure how to log in as administrator. We only have one user (me) and I suspect I automatically log in as adm, but I don't know much about these things.

OK, I am reporting back. Possibly this will arise with someone else, possibly not. Anyway, I'll describe it.
While I was playing on the other computer, my wife was on the new Windows 7 machine playing Mah Jong or some such. Part way through her game everything went haywire and eventually the machine shut it self down. After I gave it a rest, it slowly opened, at first offering options for opening in various safe modes. Before I could think this through, it ignored me and opened itself up sort of but not really. I turned it off and opened it again, a couple of times, and then it came up fully and announced that I had to uninstall the old Adobe Flash and install the new version. I did so. I am now watching England versus Wales.
So this is crazy, and perhaps it is completely specific to the computer I have. Perhaps the problem is gone for good, perhaps not.
At various times I have found that shutting down a computer and then, after a bit, restarting it seems to help. Now it seems uninstalling and reinstalling a program also helps. I suspect the reasons for this will remain a mystery to me.
Feel free to delete this if it seems unlikely to be of interest to anyone else. It has a certain craziness to it.
Thanks, Ken
