I am new to this site and have some questions about robots. My long distance friend and I want to do bidding practice, without play, using two robots. I am willing to pay for robots but can't find how to activate an account. One version of bridgebase allows you to have robots for bidding practice for free. How can I activate this version? Thanks, Lynne

If you log in to BBO using the web-client (click the yellow "Play bridge now" link on www.bridgebase.com) you won't have to pay anything to use robots at the bidding practice tables that you host.
After you log in, follow these instructions:
1) Click "Help me find a game"
2) Click "I want to find or start my own table"
3) Click "I want to start a new table"
4) A window will appear. Select "Bidding" as the table type and click the "Start table" button in this window
5) You will be taken to an empty table. Click either the South or North seat to sit in that seat
6) You will buttons on the remaining empty seats "Click for robot" that will deposit robots in their respective seats.
7) Assuming you want to practice bidding with a partner, let your partner know your table is ready. When your partner arrives he/she will be able to click on the remaining empty North or South seat. There are various ways your partner can find you and your table - if your partner has trouble with this I suggest he/she e-mail support@bridgebase.com.
