I suggest the Bridge Base Forums be indexed by search engines such as Google.

It is a question of amending forums.bridgebase.com/robots.txt.

PS: It might be a good idea not to index the Water Cooler, as most of what it contains isn't really stuff bridgebase want to be associated with, I suppose.

But what will Csaba do with his free time then?

P.s. It's a great suggestion. Should certainly do it.

i have 1 useful skill and you want to render it obsolete. :)

I prefer to stay with Google 2.0 (g-w-nn, n. a modern search engine with attitude).

I would rather keep google out of here.

What is the reason for not indexing? Is it a concern that the forum would be invaded by non-bboers? I suppose that would be a risk.

Anyway, it is frustrating that it is so difficult to find old threads.

Maybe some posters should not use the internet for fun during work.

A posts in a thread like "how to kill time at work" could get them in trouble....

You can become the guy that fixes bugs in the search engine.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Can't you use the forum's search page?

Yes but it is very poor. It seems to have problems with words containing non-alphanumeric characters. It ignores words with less than four letters. It can't find synonyms, alternative verb forms etc. And above all, it has no way of accessing relevance (OK, relevance is tricky on a forum because internal links are not so widely used, maybe Google would not be great either. But surely better than the search page)
