As has been said already, you can play the double of 1S as takeout if you like, though it's a bad idea because it lets the opponents psyche you out of your major fit.

However, if I understand you, which I very possibly don't, you're saying that double of 1S showed 1 major or the other in your methods. That's just not playable.

If nobody can ever show 4 hearts, how do we get to our 4-4 fits?

dude that's what I'm saying. Maybe I should have quoted what I was responding to, something about 2♥ here showing a good 5 card suit I think.
